The Kent Business Bunker – Encouraging Local Business At Every Level | Go-Back-A-Page

Channel Radio’s Encore Player (Listen Again)

Now into its third year of broadcasting, the Kent Business Bunker is going from strength to strength and is now one of Channel Radio’s flagship daytime shows. It is also highly regarded as a significant local resource for entrepreneurs both large and established, also focussing on those individuals and partners who are just starting out and seeking business advice.

And business advice doesn’t come much better than from former ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Paul Andrews and his varied team of successful co-presenters. Their informed counsel is mixed within a friendly and light-hearted delivery that turns an often-serious business subject into an enjoyable and enlightening conversation.

Each week they feature influential guests from the world of business who talk about their area of expertise and how they started out in business. The Bunker also showcases as many small local businesses, events and success stories as possible.

Paul’s background has provided him with many practical years of experience, particularly in this region of England; “Having worked as an IT specialist in the city, I left full time employment 25 years ago and started as a freelance IT consultant. My first business grew into an IT and Management Consulting Business and things simply progressed from there.

I started the Business Bunker as I felt that business coverage among the UK broadcast media was very sparse. It tended to focus on large corporates, with generally negative stories. I felt there was a gap for a show that was light, fun, positive and focused on the business issues that affect SME’s (small and medium sized businesses) and microbusinesses. The Business Bunker is still, as far as we know, the only SME business show in the UK.”

As such, the Business Bunker is basically a forum for discussing commerce, enterprise and entrepreneurship in our county – keeping the focus on the immediate locality to offer valuable advice and experience, help that is often very difficult to independently source.

Kent based businessman Paul Andrews is regularly assisted by co-presenters and local business owners Jules Serkin, Jo Dodds, Rebecca Oliver and Audra Lamoon.

The show particularly supports the 56,000 SME’s in the county and also aims to highlight all those who make and produce things in Kent.

“If you would like to tell us about your business – large or small – we would love to hear from you,” Paul confirms. “We happily support solo workers, home workers and self employed, and actively encourage new start up businesses. People are welcome to call in for advice, support, mentoring and contacts. Since we’ve been on air we’ve managed to put a number of people together to form successful business relationships.”
