The place for charities and community organisations in Kent and the county borders to promote themselves and their events

The Community Show is for the Kent community what Business Bunker is for Kent businesses. Each week the Community Show team promote as many events as possible which are taking place, give shout outs to charities and organisations and finding out more about one particular charity or organisation by having a studio guest each week. Thrown in is music, laughter and chit-chat to make the perfect blend of information and entertainment.

Who better to front the show than Kent-based publisher (and now broadcaster) Laura Burton-Lawrence who was inspired by her own community in the town of Edenbridge to give up her city career and start publishing community magazines 10 years ago and has two successful titles under her belt – The Edenbridge Directory and The Crowborough Directory. The Community Show provides a new platform for Laura to keep on doing what she enjoys most – supporting the community.

Before being inspired by her own community to change her career, Laura has always been very active within community organisations – she was a Civilian Instructor for a local air cadet squadron in West London before playing for her local rugby club, London Welsh Women RFC, and becoming club social secretary. She now makes the odd appearance on stage with the Edenbridge Players, compere’s at local events and is the networking co-ordinator for the Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce as well as getting stuck in to many activities for the features she writes for her magazines.

The show is fully interactive and listeners are encouraged to tweet, message or email while the show is live so messages can be read out on air.

“Kent is full of people giving up their free time to help others and there are many charities fundraising for the good of the community. We will be meeting them, finding out about them, and maybe giving you, the listener, inspiration to start something new in your area.”

“If you would like to tell us about your charity or organisation, we would love to hear from you! If you have any fundraising events or other community events taking place then you must let us know so we can help promote it for you.”
