Ever wondered how a song suddenly seems to be everywhere on Channel Radio? It may be our Channel Radio Choice Track of the Week.
Every week, we select one track and put it in front of the whole Channel Radio audience. Not just in one specialist show. Not just for one carefully chosen spin. The selected song is played every hour for an entire week across the station, including peak listening hours from 09:00 to 17:00.
That is sustained exposure. It gives listeners the chance to hear a song properly, remember the artist and decide whether they want to find out more.
The Choice Track of the Week is our way of giving one song a serious platform.
Channel Radio stands for “Music of Folk and Different Strokes.” We are a volunteer-run independent station on the South Kent coast, and we exist to give music a life beyond the upload.
That matters because independent artists often release a song, share it online and then watch it disappear beneath the next wave of content. One social media post is not a campaign. One radio spin is not sustained support.
A Choice Track week gives a song time to settle with listeners. You might hear it while working, driving, relaxing or discovering new music through our Channel Radio web player, with the stream available through Hippynet. Then, when you hear it again, you start recognising the melody, the artist and the story behind it.
That is how music becomes familiar. Familiarity creates curiosity. Curiosity helps listeners find the artist.
Wherever you are, we want to make listening easy.
If you are reading about the Choice Track of the Week and want to hear what is playing right now, here are all the ways you can tune in to Channel Radio:
Keep it simple. Pick the option that suits you best and take Channel Radio with you wherever you are.

The feature is open to independent artists who have something genuine to say.
We welcome folk, indie, country and soul singer-songwriters, as well as solo artists, duos and bands. You may already have an established audience, or you may be recording music as a first-time or hobby musician. You can be based in the UK or overseas.
There is no requirement to have a record label behind you. In fact, supporting artists without major industry backing is central to what we do.
If your music reflects the spirit of Music of Folk and Different Strokes, send it to newmusic@channelradio.co.uk. Artists can submit at any time. There is no deadline, and we listen to everything that comes in.
The process is straightforward, but you must take the first step.
Don’t overcomplicate it. You do not need a broadcast studio to take part. You need a strong song, a clear introduction and the willingness to put your music in front of new listeners.

The Choice Track of the Week has already highlighted artists including:
The next track could be yours.
New Choice Track weeks are announced regularly, so do not wait for the “perfect” moment. Submit your music, keep your artist details and social handles ready, and make it easy for us to support you.
Listeners can tune in through the Channel Radio web player, with the stream available through Hippynet, and discover new music across our shows and schedule. You can also follow updates from Terence Starr at @terencestarrdj.
For artists, the instruction is simple: send your track to newmusic@channelradio.co.uk. For listeners, keep listening, because the song you hear every hour may be the next independent artist you choose to follow.
