The people making a difference in our communities deserve to be heard. That is why Channel Radio is proud to announce the launch of Voices for Good, a brand-new show hosted by Terence Starr.
The programme will shine a light on the charity workers, Community Interest Company founders and dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy and expertise to help others. These are the people working behind the scenes to improve lives, strengthen neighbourhoods and create opportunities : often without receiving the media attention they deserve.
Voices for Good is here to change that.
Every community has inspiring stories. You might find them in a local charity office, a community centre, a volunteer-run project or a small CIC quietly solving a big problem.
You will find them in the person delivering food to vulnerable residents, the volunteer organising activities for young people, the charity team supporting families through difficult circumstances, and the CIC founder building a more inclusive future from the ground up.
Their work matters. Their experiences matter. Their voices matter.
Yet many of these individuals and organisations rarely receive meaningful radio time or media coverage. They may not have large marketing budgets, dedicated press teams or the spare time needed to promote everything they do. Their focus is on serving people : not necessarily on telling the world about it.
That is where Channel Radio can help.
Through Voices for Good, Terence will sit down with guests to explore their personal stories, understand the causes they support and discover the real difference they are making. The conversations will be warm, honest and human, giving listeners a chance to hear directly from the people at the heart of local community action.

This is not just a programme about organisations. It is a programme about people.
Terence will talk with guests about the moments that inspired them to get involved, the challenges they have faced and the progress they have achieved. You will hear about the realities of charity work, the commitment required to run a CIC and the personal rewards : and frustrations : that come with volunteering.
Topics may include:
The story behind the cause
What issue is the organisation tackling? Why was it established? What personal experiences or community needs led to its creation?
The people behind the work
Who keeps the project moving? What motivates staff, founders and volunteers to continue when resources are limited and the work is demanding?
The difference being made
How is the organisation supporting people locally? What changes can be seen in the community? What successes deserve greater recognition?
The challenges that remain
Every good cause faces obstacles. Funding pressures, volunteer shortages, public awareness and rising demand can all make vital work more difficult.
How listeners can help
Guests will be able to explain how people can volunteer, donate, attend events, share information or simply support the cause by spreading the word.
You do not need to be an expert in community development to connect with these conversations. You simply need to care about the people and places around you.
Channel Radio has always believed that radio should feel personal. Our shows combine great music, engaging conversation and direct listener interaction. You can tune in through the Channel Radio web player, wherever you are, and feel connected to what is happening on air.
That community spirit is central to Voices for Good.
The show is not about creating distance between guests and listeners. It is about bringing people closer together. When you hear a volunteer explain why they started helping others, or a charity worker describe the people behind the statistics, the issue becomes more than a headline. It becomes real.
That personal connection can inspire action.
You might discover a local group that needs volunteers. You might learn about a service that could help someone you know. You might decide to attend a fundraiser, offer professional skills or share a campaign online. Sometimes, hearing one honest conversation is enough to turn passive interest into practical support.
That is the power of community radio. It gives important work a human voice and creates space for conversations that might otherwise be missed.

If your organisation is doing valuable work but struggling to be heard, this show is for you.
Voices for Good welcomes conversations with a wide range of community-focused guests, including:
You do not need to be a large national organisation. In fact, the purpose of the show is to help bring attention to the people and groups that are often overlooked.
Your project may be small. Your team may be entirely volunteer-led. You may still be developing your plans. What matters is the difference you are trying to make and the story behind your work.
A radio conversation can help you explain what you do clearly, reach new supporters and encourage members of the public to get involved. It can also help potential partners, funders and volunteers understand the value of your work.
You should not wait for someone else to discover your cause. If you have something meaningful to say, take the opportunity to say it.
The best guests may be people you already know.
Perhaps a neighbour runs a food bank. Perhaps a friend volunteers with an animal rescue group. Maybe a local CIC is creating training opportunities, supporting people with disabilities or improving the environment. You may know a small organisation that has achieved remarkable things but has never had the chance to tell its story on the radio.
We want to hear from you.
If you know a charity, CIC or volunteer group that deserves a place on Voices for Good, contact Channel Radio through the Channel Radio website and tell us about them. Include the organisation’s name, what it does, where it works and why you believe its story should be heard.
If you want to get involved with the show or book a spot, email voicesforgood@channelradio.co.uk. This is the direct contact for charities, CIC groups and volunteers who want to share their story on air.
You can also encourage the organisation itself to get in touch. A nomination could introduce listeners to a vital local service, a dedicated volunteer team or a new project that needs community support.
Do not assume somebody else will make the recommendation. If a group has helped you, inspired you or improved your local area, tell us. Your suggestion could give them the platform they have been missing.
Community action often starts locally, but its impact can travel much further.
A conversation on Voices for Good can help guests reach people beyond their immediate circle. Listeners may be able to offer practical support, make introductions, share specialist knowledge or connect a cause with new audiences.
For local Kent businesses, the show also creates an opportunity to stand alongside the organisations strengthening our communities. Businesses that want to support positive local work can ask Channel Radio about sponsorship, promotional partnerships and our media kit. Pairing trusted radio exposure with a digital package can help a business demonstrate its community commitment while reaching listeners across our online channels.
Radio builds trust through familiarity. Digital content extends that conversation beyond the broadcast. Together, they can provide a stronger way for local organisations and businesses to connect with the people they want to reach.
If your company would like to support community-focused broadcasting, visit Channel Radio and ask about our advertising and sponsorship options.

Voices for Good is more than a new show. It is an invitation to pay attention.
Pay attention to the people solving problems. Pay attention to the volunteers giving up their evenings and weekends. Pay attention to the charities and CICs working with limited resources but determined purpose.
Most importantly, pay attention to the ways you can help.
Tune in to Voices for Good on Channel Radio, listen to the conversations and share the stories with people who may benefit from them. If you represent a charity, CIC or volunteer group, reach out and tell us what you are doing. To get involved with the show or book a spot, email voicesforgood@channelradio.co.uk. If you know someone who deserves recognition, nominate them.
The microphone is ready. The community has stories to tell.
Join Terence Starr and Channel Radio for Voices for Good : and help us give the unsung heroes of our community the air time they deserve.
